St Hedwig Village is a community based, not for profit organisation that is committed to achieving a standard of excellence in care that is always focused on the resident and their care needs. The organisation's facilities are surrounded by native bushland with landscaped gardens in a village like setting.
All services employ well-trained, professional staff to look after residents' health and day-to-day care needs. There are daily recreation activities; exercise programs; weekly church services and regular bus outings. Visits by doctors, physiotherapist, podiatrist, optometrist, dental and other services can also be arranged on site.
Accommodation and services include:
- 75 bed high care residential nursing home
- 57 bed low care residential hostel (which includes a 15 bed dementia specific unit)
- 48 self care units
- 28 Community Care Packages providing home care
About the Opportunity
St Hedwig Village has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated Director Of Nursing to join their team in Blacktown.
Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of St Hedwig's care facilities, including the nursing home, hostel and community care packages. Joining a dedicated team of professionals, you will ensure the quality of nursing and care offered by St Hedwig Village is of a consistently high standard.
Some of your specific responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and guiding staff to ensure the provision of optimum care for all residents;
- Fulfilling operational, administrative and accreditation needs for the facility;
- Participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures; and
- Human Resources duties, managing house services, WHS and continuous improvement.
St Hedwig Village is seeking a Registered Nurse (AHPRA) with proven experience in a similar role, and a background in successfully guiding other aged care facilities through the accreditation process. You'll hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Gerontic Nursing, Management or Health Administration, and have a thorough knowledge of ACFI, aged care standards, accreditation and legislation.
The successful candidate will have proven leadership and people management skills, with an understanding of budget requirements, demonstrated organisational abilities, computer literacy and a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement and WHS standards. As a leader within St Hedwig Village, you will possess a high level of interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
Most importantly, you'll have a passion for delivering quality care and sensitivity towards people from multicultural backgrounds.
