About the Opportunity

Due to continued growth through NSW and the ACT, Premier Youthworks has an exciting newly created full-time opportunity for a Case Worker / Social Worker to join their dedicated team in Canberra.

Within this role, you'll be responsible for providing case management to young people displaying challenging behaviours, including the formulation and implementation of behaviour support plans. As this role is new, you will initially attend a training period in Newcastle, NSW, to be based in Canberra in the long term.

More specifically, your duties will include:

  • Creating and reviewing Behaviour Management Plans, including writing and monitoring the progress;
  • Facilitating and presenting training to staff in areas such as report writing, crisis intervention, self care and boundaries;
  • Maintaining the psychology database;
  • Writing psychotropic consent;
  • Performing client visits and attending meetings where required; and
  • Liaising with a wide range of stakeholders to collect information.

The successful applicant will hold a degree in Social Science or a relevant Allied Health discipline, with a solid knowledge of the mental health, trauma and abuse sector. You'll have a significant history of managing clients with challenging behaviours, including proven experience with writing behaviour support plans and associated reports.

It would be beneficial to have experience working specifically with young people and their carers, while a background in providing critical incident briefing would be advantageous. It is preferred you hold knowledge of OOHC and Unconditional Positive Regard, and have demonstrated skills in Positive Behaviour Support.

Importantly, you will be an enthusiastic, caring and understanding team player, with strong written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and significant abilities in training. All applicants require a current driver's licence.
