About the Opportunity

Bridges for Learning has an exciting opportunity for a Psychologist to join its dynamic team based in Bowral, in the semi-rural Southern Highlands. This role is being offered on a full time basis for the right applicant, however part time work may also be considered. Before signing your contract, you will be able to negotiate the hours that you work.

In this rewarding role, you'll work with a team of therapists, specialist teachers and assistants to provide transdisciplinary programs that combine therapeutic, developmental and educational outcomes for young children, primarily those with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

More specifically, your duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Assessing and identifying behavioural and developmental needs in children with Autism;
  • Devising and delivering treatment strategies, including a home program for the parents/carers to follow, within individual therapy or group sessions;
  • Liaising with other professionals and pre-school/school staff who are also involved with the child’s care;
  • Facilitating the family’s transition into the services at the Centre and conducting one-on-one support or counselling to parents;
  • Facilitating parent education and support groups; and
  • Referring parents to other family services as needed, acting as resource of information.

To succeed, you'll need to be a registered Psychologist in Australia demonstrating that you have worked with children 0 - 7 with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Previous experience working with under school age children and with families and family-centred principles, along with demonstrated experience in conducting group facilitations and one-on-one counselling with adults is essential.

Bridges for Learning is seeking a dedicated individual with a commitment to working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, whilst at the same time having the ability to work independently in implementing assessments and strategies. Your understanding of sensory integration strategies will also be pivotal to your success.

Whilst not essential, experience in administering psychometric assessments and assessments of Autism will be well regarded. If you have undergone specialised training in working with children or Floortime principles or grief and loss counselling, this will also be viewed favourably.

To suit the Bridges for Learning team, you'll need to be a self-motivated and friendly team player, with high level verbal and written communication skills in order to liaise effectively with clients and staff.

To reward your hard work and dedication, you'll enjoy an attractive salary circa $55,000 - $65,000 + salary sacrifice options. This will significantly increase your take-home pay to up to $68,000 - $91,000!

Working in a beautiful setting with negotiable hours, you'll also be joining a supportive and family-orientated team. This truly is a fantastic opportunity to broaden your experience with other professional early childhood intervention arenas!
