About the Organisation
Carinbundi is the trading name of Burnett Respite Services Inc, a community based, not for profit organisation formed in 1994 to provide regular respite to people with a disability aged from birth to 65 years. This care is provided to offer relief from stress for carers and a break for people with disabilities.
With over 15 years experience, this service has grown and now offers a range of programs including General Respite, Children's Respite, Accommodation Support, Holiday Programs and Day Services.
The Mission for Burnett Respite Services Inc is: "To offer quality, accessible, planned and crisis services to all eligible people with a disability, their families and carers living in the Bundaberg region."
About the Opportunity
Carinbundi has an exciting opportunity for a number of casual Disability Support Workers to join their friendly team in Bundaberg.
Your enthusiasm and reliability will be key in these varied roles, as you support and assist people with disabilities in a range of personal care and/or support tasks to encourage their full participation in the community.
This will include assisting consumers to participate and make choices in community activities, maintaining normal daily routines and activities and providing personal care assistance when necessary.
More specifically, some of your duties will include:
- Contributing to the supervision and support of service users;
- Providing personal care, including the application of transfer strategies and personal hygiene needs;
- Demonstrating respect for each service user as an individual, with varying backgrounds, circumstances and differences;
- Contributing to the identification and promotion of strategies to meet the needs of users and families;
- Assessing skills development needs, and presenting within Individual Personal Plans; and
- Assisting in the implementation of daily programs to enhance skills of users.

Carinbundi is looking for caring team players who are eager to learn with a basic knowledge of the Disability Service Standards to enable you to create a safe environment for service users and their families. Although not essential, a Certificate III in Community Services or other relevant qualifications would be highly regarded.
You will be confident that, with the right training you will be able to handle challenges and solve problems autonomously, and will demonstrate sound common sense in everyday decision making. You should also have high level communication and organisational skills.
Additional requirements include a current QLD Driver's Licence as you may be required to work across a number of Bundaberg locations as determined by the roster. The ability to apply for and maintain a 'Working with Children' Blue Card is also essential.
As a casual position, all successful candidates will be required to work on an on-call basis, with a roster that operates over a twenty-four hour and seven day a week period. This will provide you with fantastic flexible working arrangements with a majority of sleepovers, day or support shifts, therefore you must be very reliable in your attendance and nomination of shifts.
In return for your dedication and hard work, you will be rewarded with an attractive hourly rate ranging from $24.55 per hour (weekdays) to $49.10 per hour (weekends) as remunerated under the Social, Home Care, and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
