About the Organisation
Toowoomba Clubhouse supports people with a mental illness on their road to recovery. It is a welcoming and empowering environment that supports members to build confidence and skills. Members use the Clubhouse to achieve goals such as paid employment and participation in the wider community. These programs are based on an international model with proven effectiveness (www.iccd.org).
The organisation's main program is the Work-Ordered Day, in which members and staff work together to keep the Clubhouse running efficiently, using their well-equipped office, commercial kitchen and sunny garden. This helps members develop work, social and living skills as well as confidence and stamina.
The Social-Recreational Program supports members to further develop social skills and networks, whilst the Employment Program assists members to obtain and maintain employment. Educational groups further promote skill development.

About the Opportunity
Toowoomba Clubhouse is seeking a full-time energetic Mental Health Rehabilitation Officer to join their team in Toowoomba.
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate a pre-vocational unit to generate meaningful work for its members, ensuring that they are working as part of a team with other members in the daily operation of the designated unit.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Promoting program development in accordance with the Toowoomba Clubhouse philosophy as outlined in the International Standards;
- Coordinating the work unit in conjunction with the director and your direct supervisor;
- Ensuring that each member is appropriately oriented and supported in the unit with the aim of increasing members’ self esteem, concentration, stamina and social skills;
- Developing and maintain meaningful work opportunities in the unit for members,
- Assisting in the outreach program providing phone, email, mail, home and hospital visits;
- Presentations to community groups regarding mental illness and the Clubhouse model; and
- Participating in education and performance management activities and colleague training.
This role would certainly suit a graduate fresh out of university or perhaps you've just completed a longer course. These formal qualifications will be highly regarded but are not essential in this role. More importantly, the organisation is keen to talk to candidates with demonstrated experience with programs for people with mental illness.
Individuals who have volunteered within the community/human service industries would also be highly regarded. If you've made a difference by volunteering in your community, or fought for a cause you believe in then Toowoomba Clubhouse would certainly like to hear about it.
Suitable candidates will need to embrace the Clubhouse model and possess a current C-Class driver's licence valid in Queensland. Well developed communication, organisational and interpersonal skills will play a pivotal role in your day to day responsibilities.
