About the Opportunity
Northern Territory General Practice Education has a unique opportunity for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its diverse, multi-disciplinary team based in Darwin, NT. This is a full time position, working 36.75 hours per week. Additional after hours work may be required.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, you'll be responsible for carrying out the strategic plans and policies of the organisation as established by the Board and overseeing the day to day business operations.
Your aim will be to provide the best training opportunities for health professionals seeking to train and work in General Practice primary health care in Australia, with particular emphasis on rural and remote regions.
More specifically your duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Looking to the future for change opportunities;
- Ensuring staff and Board have sufficient and up-to-date information;
- Interfacing between the Board and employees and between the organisation and external stakeholders, inc community organisations;
- Leading and structuring the company to achieve the vision, philosophy and mission of NTGPE;
- Maintaining positive public image in representing the company in educational forums, external public events and liaising with stakeholders and service providers;
- Overseeing operations (Financial, Human Resources & physical resources) of the company and reporting to the Board
- Formulating policies and planning recommendations to the Board; and
- Ensuring team building is an integral part of business strategy to increase efficiency and performance in meeting strategic and operational plans.
To succeed in this position, you'll require tertiary qualifications in health, education and/or management, along with demonstrated experience in management and leadership at a senior level. This includes proven successes in the delivery of services and the development of collaborative partnerships between stakeholders, and high level financial and resource management skills.
You'll possess experience in leading, implementing and evaluating policy and program development, and will have the capability to lead and motivate staff to achieve national program objectives. Demonstrated experience in working with quality assurance and/or accreditation criteria and continuous improvement processes, and an understanding of Australian General Practice Training and cultural sensitivity principles are essential in this role. Your understanding of Government funding processes will also be pivotal to your success.
Lastly, you'll require exceptional verbal, negotiation and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and prepare grant submissions. A current driver's licence and a willingness to learn to drive 4WDs, fly in light aircraft and on occasion camp out in remote locations is a must.
Whilst not essential, postgraduate qualifications in Education and/or Health Sciences, extensive knowledge of the primary health care context and remote and Aboriginal health, a commitment to the vertical integration of General Practice training and an understanding of Australian Qualifications Framework and vocational medical education courses will all be highly regarded.
