About Emergency Care Services (ECS)

Baptist Care (SA) provides emergency care services for children and young people from newborn until the age of 18 years of age. We are responsible for providing emergency residential care and support for children and young people under the Guardianship of the Minister. Children are supported by carers working on a 24/7 roster.

The program aims to provide therapeutic care for children and sibling groups. The therapeutic care model focuses on children’s strengths and provides them with a supportive and nurturing environment. The program seeks to provide a safe and stable home where children and young people are given opportunities to learn and practice skills that will assist them in making better choices for themselves.

About the Opportunity

Baptist Care (SA) has fantastic opportunities available for casual Child & Youth Support Workers to join their dedicated Emergency Services Team in Adelaide's metropolitan area.

Under the supervision of the experienced therapeutic services team, you'll contribute to the day-to-day running of the residential support facility to support and empower vulnerable children. 

In this integral role, your duties may include:

  • Building and maintaining a postitive home environment for children and young people in ECS;
  • Providing quality support to clients inline with their needs, programs and support plans;
  • Ensuring a safe and secure environment for vulnerable children/young people;
  • Working in collaboration with team members to ensure the application of consistent support and services;
  • Increasing the children/young people's skills, personal growth and development;
  • Establishing rapport and collaborating with clients and families; and
  • Maintaining accurate records.

The successful candidate will need relevant qualifications in the field of social or health disciplines, or be working towards a Certificate IV in any of these areas. In addition, previous experience working with vulnerable and at-risk children/young people is essential to your success in this role. 

Qualification in Community Services along with the ability and/or previous experience delivering therapeutic interventions is desirable but not essential.

As part of the ECS team, you'll need to be able to work well in challenging or stressful environments and as part of a team and autonomously. You'll be working with at-risk children/youth so a commitment and compliance to quality is vital to the provision of support services with ECS. In addition, you'll need great interpersonal communication skills as you will be working with a number of stakeholders including clients, team member and families.

You must have a full drivers licence, reliable & third party insured motor vehicle, a current Senior First Aid Certificate and have completed Child Safe Environment training. Employment will be subject to a satisfactory National Criminal History Police Check.
