Established in 2009, Envirotech Monitoring provide a range of environmental measurement and monitoring services across the Northern Territory, West Australia and Queensland.  Envirotech Monitoring predominantly services the mining industry but also work closely with state and federal governments as well as private clients including several research agencies. 

The core service offered by the business involves the use and integration of technologies to measure and record environmental variables.  This includes the design, fabrication and installation of water quality gauging systems, weather stations, and custom built, project specific monitoring systems.  Envirotech Monitoring is a small business with a can-do attitude, they focus on getting the job done safely and efficiently and that begins with their people.

About the Opportunity

Envirotech Monitoring has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technical Specialist to join their small team based in Darwin, NT.

Reporting to the Manager, within this role you will be responsible for providing senior technical expertise and managing the delivery of environmental measurement projects for a wide range of clients across northern Australia.

More specifically, your day to day responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Creating and maintaining strong partnerships with clients and representing Envirotech Monitoring as a senior professional;
  • Providing primary support to the manager, ensuring high quality service delivery to clients and the delivery of first class systems through contribution of technical expertise and ingenuity;
  • Designing, fabricating, installing and operating automated environmental monitoring systems;
  • Collecting, managing, analysing and disseminating environmental data from aforementioned systems;
  • Providing technical expertise and support for internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff.

To be successful in this role, you'll need a strong understanding and experience in environmental monitoring, data collection and data management with tools including but not limited to, Campbell Scientific Data Loggers, Hydstra data management systems and Rio Grande Accoustic Dopplers. In addition, a mechanical/electrical sensors and signals aptitude is essential as you'll be involved with the design and fabrication of technical systems using field and workshop machinery.

High computer literacy is essential as you'll be using, installing and configuring a wide variety of applications.  Experience in Excel functions and macros andconfiguring operating systems as well as database administration skills, will be highly regarded.

You'll be flexible with working hours, motivated with excellent project and time management skills and have the ability to lead by example including mentoring junior staff. You'll be working with a number of stakeholders internally and externally including clients, suppliers and team members, so you'll need outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.

A qualification in science, engineering or environmental study, a first aid certificate as well as experience working on mine sites, are desirable but not essential for this role.
