About the Organisation
Katherine Women’s Crisis Centre (KWCC) is a not for profit organisation based in Katherine, NT, that provides supported accommodation for women and children affected by family and / or domestic violence or who are in a crisis situation. Residential accommodation is offered to these families on a temporary basis while assessment is carried out and appropriate support is identified and provided. KWCC also provides domestic violence counselling services to families, women, men and children in Katherine as well as remote communities.
To complement the services offered through the Centre in Katherine, support is provided to families living in remote communities, as part of a community outreach program.

About the Opportunities
Katherine Women's Crisis Centre (KWCC) has full time opportunity for a dedicated Crisis Accommodation Team Leader (Domestic Violence Service) to join the team at Katherine, NT.
Reporting directly to the Executive Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing staff and the physical resources associated with the Crisis Accommodation Centre to ensure the service provided is of a high standard.
More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
- Building strong links with Aboriginal groups, the general community and stakeholders within the region, and with other Safe House providers;
- Identifying and implementing strategies that facilitate integrated services and access for all community members and organisations;
- Participating in the recruitment of staff, as well as providing coordination, supervision, training and mentoring opportunities for staff;
- Ensuring that the Crisis Accommodation Service meets all funding requirements, milestones and timelines;
- Overseeing the day to day administration requirements of the Crisis Accommodation Service and the management of facilities; and
- Working collaboratively to develop policies, procedures, documentation, government regulations and quality assurance principals to be culturally relevant and understandable.
About You
This is a challenging role requiring a team player who is also proven leader. You might be looking to move from a corporate role to the community sector, and know your skills will translate to the position. You'll have an understanding of the social, emotional and physical effects of family and/or domestic violence on children, the family and the community. Knowledge of current relevant NT and national legislation will be highly regarded.
You will need highly developed communication and interpersonal skills. Much of your time will be spent working closely with the staff so patience in dealing with them is vital, as is previous experience managing staff. You'll also have the ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment and ideally have a solid understanding of the conditions and cultural context of remote Aboriginal communities.
It's important you hold a current driver's licence. As the role involves working with children, applicants should have, or be willing to obtain a Working With Children check and will be required to undergo a Criminal History check.
