About the Organisation

The South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council is the native title representative body of the Noongar people and is located in Cannington, 20 mins drive out of Perth in Western Australia. SWALSC works with members to progress resolution of the Noongar native title claims, while also advancing and strengthening Noongar culture, language, heritage and society.

SWALSC also works to strengthen Noongar culture and heritage by close engagement with the community on a wide variety of projects and initiatives. SWALSC has extensive experience in natural resource management projects through the Caring for Country programs where it worked in close cooperation with catchment councils and community groups.

About the Opportunity

The South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Coordinator - Joint Management to join their progressive organisation in Cannington, only 20 mins outside of Perth.

Reporting to the Land Unit Manager, you'll be responsible for developing policy and outcomes for the joint management of cultural lands with the Department of Environment and Conservation ensuring that Noongar rights are incorporated into the blueprints for the region.  Additionally, you'll be developing land access protocols for the Noongar estate and establishing Lands committees within each of the Regional Corporations.

The South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in the development and management of projects and knowledge of sound governance arrangements. You'll have a proven background in policy and procedure formulation, ensuring that positive outcomes are achieved.  Importantly, you'll an in depth knowledge of the South West Noongar Community and have demonstrated experience in the management of issues related to cultural land. 

You'll be participating in strategic forums and advocating for Indigenous land management and interests as well as liaising with stakeholders from all levels so it is essential that you have highly developed communication and presentation skills. This position will involve extensive travel throughout SW Western Australia so it is essential that you have a current driver's licence.

Candidates with experience building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous stakeholders will be highly regarded.
