About the Opportunity
The Shire of Mundaring has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Co-ordinator to join their professional team in Mundaring, WA.
Reporting directly to the Manager - Finance & Governance, this pivotal role will be responsible for the day to day supervision and coordination of the Finance Service team. This role will also include providing financial advice and support thoughout the organisation in the areas of budget preparation and review as well as monthly financial reporting and analysis.
More specifically, your duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Determining, monitoring and evaluating service provision of the team against corporate objectives and performance indicators;
- Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of the management and statutory budgets as well as the monthly and annual financial reports to Council;
- Reviewing monthly reports and producing variance analyses in liaison with service managers;
- Developing, maintaining and overseeing end of month processes and reporting for the Finance Service;
- Taking responsibility for financial system training and maintenance; and
- Maintaining accurate information and keeping general correspondence and file notes up to date.
The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications in a financial field and will have highly developed conceptual, analytical and evaluation skills with demonstrated ability in business process design, development and implementation. Importantly, you will demonstrate exceptional leadership and management skills and have a proven track record leading and directing the activities of a team in the delivery of a finance service.
Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, in particular with Microsoft Office products, is essential to be considered for this position. In addition, you'll have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills enabling you to effectively provide advice and support to relevant stakeholders.
While not required, candidates who are members of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia or the National Institute of Accountants and/or candidates with knowledge of the local government legislative framework, procedural requirements, policy and local government budget process will be highly regarded.
