About the Opportunity

The Salvation Army has a rewarding full time opportunity for an AOD Caseworker to join their team in Fyshwick, ACT.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing Alcohol and Other Drug counselling and intensive case work (education, support interventions, assessment and referral) to individuals and families experiencing the impact of addiction from alcohol, drugs or gambling within an established framework.

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Assessing and admitting clients to the program;
  • Developing case plans during intake interview;
  • Managing your caseload to meet the needs of the Centre;
  • Ensuing the data you collect is accurate and comprehensive; and
  • Maintaining supportive relationships with your clients.

Above all, the successful candidate must display a commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army and empathy with the Christian Faith.  In addition, you'll need Tertiary qualifications within Community Services, Social Work or another relevant discipline or extensive relevant experience and a minimum of a Certificate IV in AOD work.  Ideally, You will also have extensive case management experience working with disadvantaged and/or complex needs clients.

Importantly, you'll have the ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour as well as problems associated with substance abuse and psychiatric conditions.  You will be an effective planner with excellent organisational skills and will have the demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.  An important aspect of this role will find you liaising with a range of internal and external clients and stakeholders so it is essential that you have well developed interpersonal skills and are an excellent communicator, both written and verbal.

A current drivers licence and first aid certificate are required to be considered for this position.
