About the Opportunity
Due to increased funding, St Carthage's Community Care currently has an exciting opportunity for Community Care Workers, working with older people, and people with disabilities to join their dedicated team in Lismore. There are part time and casual opportunities also available and shifts on offer are: day time, evening, night/sleep over and weekend.
St Carthage’s provides services in the Richmond Valley and Lismore local government areas and surrounding villages and the successful applicant may commence work and finish shifts in any of these target areas.
You will provide specialised support to clients across aged and respite services, including providing clients with flexible opportunities to enhance their independence and facilitating community participation.
More specifically, some of your key duties and responsibilities will be to:
- Advocate on issues in relation to the aged and promote community awareness of their achievements;
- Liaise with other St Carthage services and external service providers;
- Maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality;
- Participate in client case discussions and reviews;
- Provide client supervision and/or assistance in accordance with client care plans, including personal care, manual handling, meal preparation, domestic shopping, transport and socialisation; and
- Medication supervision and assistance.
St Carthage's Community Care is seeking self-motivated individuals with well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills who are cooperative and flexible in both team and individual tasks. Your understanding of Work Health and Safety, manual handling requirements and food handling procedures is important. You will need to be able to work autonomously and effectively with clients and the families of clients with complex needs. Therefore, effective time management is essential, as is experience working in a team environment.
You will also need a current NSW Drivers Licence, a reliable motor vehicle with insurance and a current First Aid Certificate.
This role is subject to a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check prior to employment. The successful candidate must be available to work rostered shifts and respond to call outs when required.
