About the Opportunity

Currently, AC Motor Electric has an opening for a full-time Electric Motor Technician / Mechanic for their busy shop in Penticton, BC.

On a daily basis, you will test, rebuild and repair electric motors, generators, pumps, welders and related electrical and mechanical equipment used in commercial, industrial and institutional establishments.

On a daily basis, your duties will include:

  • Diagnosing problems and dismantling mechanical equipment (motors, transformers, switchgear, electric welders, and generators) for servicing, modification or repair;
  • Removing and replacing shafts, bearings, commutators and other components, while referring to prints or service manuals;
  • Winding, assembling, and reinstalling various types of coils for electric motors or transformers;
  • Balancing armatures or rotors;
  • Welding, brazing, and soldering electric connections; and
  • Aligning and adjusting parts to close tolerances to reassemble items;

In order to qualify for the role, you will need at least 5 years of related shop experience, with Electrical Mechanic Trade Certification / Motor Rewind Trade Certification.

In addition to your certification, you will join AC Motor Electric with established field and troubleshooting experience, paired with a strong mechanical aptitude. Naturally, you will have working knowledge of vibration analysis, dynamic balancing, EASA repair standards, and AC rewinds, form coil to 500 Hp. It will be considered an asset if you have previously worked on 4160 volt motors.
