NPA Family and Community Services ATSI Corporation is a government funded, not for profit organisation situated in the scenic town of Bamaga at the very tip of Cape York Peninsula.

The organisation is focused on reducing the levels of family violence in the area, as well as improving the status and self-esteem of the community's indigenous residents. The organisation also addresses social issues and problems of domestic and family violence, child abuse and child neglect, drug and alcohol abuse, youth suicide, youth crime, teenage pregnancy and family conflicts.

About the Opportunity

Due to expansion of services, the NPA Family and Community Services ATSI Corporation has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Child Psychologist to join their dedicated team in Bamaga, QLD. This is a full time position, working Monday to Friday.

In this role, you will mainly be responsible for providing psychological assessments to indigenous children, aged four to seventeen years.

More specifically, some of your duties will include:

  • Providing counselling for children;
  • Working with parents regarding their children's condition;
  • Maintaining relevant records in client database; and
  • Developing case plans for children.

The successful candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in Psychology, coupled with demonstrated experience working as a psychologist and prior experience in conducting assessments of children. You'll need the ability to adopt a child / family / community approach to your work, along with the capacity to show resilience in difficult situations.

NPA Family and Community Services ATSI Corporation is seeking an individual who is able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, including social workers and counsellors. Your ability to work in a cross cultural environment will also be pivotal to your success.

In addition, you'll need to possess a current driver's licence as well as eligibility for a Working with Children Card. You must also be willing to undergo a criminal record check.
