About the Organisation
The Victoria Daly Shire Council became an entity on the 1st July 2008 through the amalgamation of 8 Northern Territory Community Councils covering an area of 168,000sqkm an area, approximately twice the size of Tasmania. Council's aim is to strengthen its communities with local people delivering shire services to their own communities with the skills and knowledge of their own culture, community and people.
Victoria Daly Shire is now four years old as an organisation, so the Council is currently recruiting people who share their vision to help develop the brand new organisation.
About the Katherine region
Katherine, with a population of over 9,200, is situated 300 km southeast of Darwin in the "Top End", the third largest community in the Northern Territory. The Region offers an abundance of experiences, boasting many natural attractions while providing a diverse outdoor and outback lifestyle for its residents.

About the Remote Jobs and Communities Program (RJCP)
The Remote Jobs and Communities Program (RJCP) is the Australian Government’s approach to providing employment services and participation activities and associated community engagement in remote Australia. The RJCP will commence on 1 July 2013. The program aims to achieve personal, social and economic development through active participation, jobs and strong communities in remote Australia.
RJCP is based on community ownership and involvement; it encourages and promotes collaborative, community-driven approaches to conducting employment and participation activities.
About the Opportunity
Victoria Daly Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for a full-time RJCP Regional Manager to join their team based at the head office in Katherine, NT.
In this pivotal, newly created leadership role, you will be responsible for the case management component of RJCP services, systems and processes. In addition, you contribute to the achievement of the Operational Plans and contractual obligations of the RJCP in the Katherine region.
More specifically, some of your duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Mentoring, coaching and developing a high performing case management team;
- Implementing and ensuring operation strategies and guides are adhered to and followed;
- Providing integrated case management for eligible job seekers;
- Collaborating with he case management team to ensure participation activities for job seekers are consistent with participation requirements, address barriers to employment and meet individual needs;
- Using innovative strategies to engage job seekers in RJCP activities;
- Ensuring job seekers with a disability have access to quality, fair, equitable, appropriate, relevant and tailored RJCP services; and
- Ensuring timely, appropriate and relevant referral to CDEP that is consistent with the job seeker's PPP and participation requirements.
To be successful, you must have experience and/or qualification in human services, employment services, community welfare, social work or community development. In addition, you'll have experience leading a case management team and will have a strong understanding of the barriers faced by staff and job seekers in remote communities who may have complex needs and/or who are culturally and linguistically diverse. You will also have the ability to process complex information using computers and online platforms.
An important aspect of this position will find you working closely with job seekers in the region so it is essential that you have exceptional communication skills and experience building and developing relationships with people from all levels.
While not required, previous experience using integrated case management methodologies, experience in program reporting and evaluation and/or experience living and working in remote communities will be highly regarded.
All employment is subject to a valid Working with Children check, a current driver's licence and a satisfactory criminal history check.
