About the Organisation
Paupiyala Tjarutja Aboriginal Corporation (PTAC) was first incorporated in 1989 as the governing representative body for the Spinifex People. It was established to enable the Spinifex people to receive and administer funds to develop infrastructure at Tjuntjuntjara, in remote Western Australia. Since then PTAC has grown to administer the Health Service, the Tjuntjuntjara Community Store, the Women’s Centre, the community Telecentre, the Tjuntjuntjara Community Resource Centre and a range of other programs and infrastructure related projects. PTAC also acts as a local council service provider – managing the RJCP and NJCPS programs, water, power, sewerage, housing maintenance and community development projects.
Operated by PTAC, the Tjuntjuntjara Community Resource Centre (Tjuntjuntjara CRC) is a not for profit, community managed organisation, and part of a network of over 100 CRCs in rural communities across the state. The centre provides residents of the Tjuntjuntjara community with core services such as Centrelink, internet access, community media, training courses, equipment hire, hosting of local events and support for community building activities.
About the Tjuntjuntjara Community, WA
The Tjuntjuntjara community is situated 700km east of Kalgoorlie, approximately 9 hours drive, in the Spinifex region of south-east WA. The community, which falls within the boundaries of the Great Victoria Desert Nature Reserve, has a population of approximately 200 - 230 people and was established in 1988. Tjuntjuntjara acts as a service centre for the Ilkulka outstation, with the Ilkulka Roadhouse located along a highway through the Great Victoria Desert. Tjuntjuntjara is an alcohol-free community.

The Remote Jobs and Communities Program (RJCP) is the Australian Government’s approach to providing employment services, participation activities and associated community engagement in remote Australia. RJCP commenced on 1 July 2013. The program aims to achieve personal, social and economic development through active participation, jobs and strong communities in remote Australia.
RJCP is based on community ownership and involvement; it encourages and promotes collaborative, community-driven approaches to conducting employment and participation activities.
About the Opportunity
Paupiyala Tjarutja Aboriginal Corporation has a fantastic opportunity for a RJCP Coordinator to join its team in Tjuntjuntjara, WA
Reporting to the PTAC General Manager and Board, you will be responsible for assessing and coordinating the training needs for new and existing job seekers. This will involve organising and developing/sourcing training to meet specific needs and tracking/reporting on the RJCP program's training outcomes.
More specifically, some of your key duties will include:
- Establishing clear pathways to employment and economic participation for all RJCP participants;
- Identifying and facilitating employment and training activities;
- Working closely with the CD Project Officer to developing training and work opportunities;
- Supervising and developing IPPs with participants and coordinating their work activities to ensure the organisation receives and monitors outcome payments through the DEEWR online system; and
- Supervising the CD Project Officer to administer training and projects designed to achieve employment and community development outcomes.

To be successful, you will have a qualification in human services, employment services, community development, social work or community development, or equivalent experience. You'll have experience in, and a thorough knowledge of, case management and its practice with clients demonstrating complex needs and who may be culturally and linguistically diverse. You'll also display an understanding of contemporary industrial relations matters, and a commitment to their application. Experience within a workplace training environment is essential.
Importantly, you will have an understanding of the challenges of working in remote Australia, and of the barriers faced by staff and job seekers in remote communities. Previous experience working in indigenous organisations and remote communities is essential to your success in this role.
This is an extremely interactive role where you will be working closely with service providers and funding bodies, so you must be comfortable working within the decision making processes they have in place. PTAC is looking for a self-motivated, problem solving and analytical person with outstanding communication skills, allowing them to liaise at all levels amongst a wide range of NGO, government and corporate stakeholders.
Taking on a key role in an exiting new program, you will be joining the PTAC team in a period of growth and change, giving you the genuine opportunity to shape this organisation as your work provides enhanced services and support throughout the region.

- 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading;
- 4 weeks isolation leave (in lieu of overtime);
