About the Opportunity

Inner East Primary Care Partnership is seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator to join their multidisciplinary team on a full time basis (37.5 hours per week), based in Melbourne's Inner East catchment
The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation (VRGF) has funded IEPCP to deliver a new project “Chasing the Luck”. The project will focus on reducing harm from gambling amongst Chinese restaurant shift workers.
It will be your responsibility to deliver this important community project, using your exceptional project and program coordination skills to ensure the successful implementation of this project. You will provide leadership to the project, to ensure that it complies with its identified objectives, scope, deliverables and timelines as well as planning and reporting requirements.

Some of your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging relevant stakeholders in the planning and implementation of project related activities.
  • Supervise and work closely with the Chinese Community Engagement Officer. 
  • Prepare timely project reports and work plans 
  • Improve referral pathways for problem gamblers in the Chinese community 
  • Engage and influence the broader Chinese community to improve/influence their gambling behaviour and raise their awareness and understanding of gambling harm and responsible gambling.
  • Develop and deliver social marketing campaign with and to the broader Chinese community. 
  • Collaborate with Chinese restaurant/shift workers to identify and/or create appropriate, convenient and timely recreational and educational alternatives to gambling.

IEPCP is looking for an energetic and innovative person with relevant tertiary qualifications in  health promotion or a related field, and demonstrated experience in project or program management. An understanding of problem gambling issues and a background in delivering upstream (preventative) interventions addressing the social determinants of problem gambling or other addictive behaviours will be highly regarded.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with stakeholders, working independently as well as part of a small team. You will have well developed organisational and excellent time management skills and an ability to communicate effectively between and about different cultures.

This is a vital role in helping to understand and raise awareness of problem gambling as a health issue throughout the catchment area, and the successful applicant will be able to see how their day-to-day work fits into the 'bigger picture' of addressing the impact of problem gambling in the general community.
