About the Organisation

Planet Ark, an Australian not-for-profit organisation set up in June 1991, aims to show people and business the many ways that they can reduce their day to day impact on the environment - at home, at work and in the community.

The non-political organisation is focused on running positive environmental campaigns, and defines itself by what they are for rather than what they are against. This approach has struck a strong chord with the Australian public, millions of whom have joined in their campaigns.

Backed up by extensive support from the media, Planet Ark reaches ordinary members of the public, encouraging them to bring about environmental change in their day-to-day lives. This is fundamentally achieved by popular campaigns including 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark ', 'National Tree Day', 'National Recycling Week' and the highly successful 'Plastic Bag Reduction' campaign.
