Rural Health Workforce Australia (RHWA) is the national peak body for Rural Workforce Agencies, and is funded by the Department of Health.

About the Opportunity

Rural Health Workforce Australia has a unique opportunity for a Grants Officer to join their team in Melbourne on a fixed-term, 12-month maternity leave contract.

Reporting directly to the General Manager - Programs, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of grants for programs across RWHA within designated budgets and timeframes. This will involve providing grants and administrative support to the Contracts Manager and others.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Coordinating the funding rounds and processes of grants;
  • Communicating outcomes of assessments and negotiating funding agreements;
  • Coordinating internal processes, including contract management, to support end-to-end grants processes;
  • Reviewing applications and shortlisting applications for Internal Committees;
  • Monitoring and reporting on grants progress; and
  • Providing administrative support as required.

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary degree in a relevant field as well as previous experience in a similar role. You'll have excellent project, contract and event administration skills, as well as a natural ability to develop and manage strong, productive and beneficial relationships. Numerical skills are a must, as you'll be expected to manage project budgets. Candidates with knowledge of the grants process and/or a background in the Government and NGO sectors will be highly regarded.

RHWA is looking for a flexible individual with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple competing deadlines and priorities at once. You will have an innovative approach to problem solving and will be willing to take the initiative to get the job done. Importantly, you'll be a collaborative team player, who consistently goes the extra mile to get a great result. High level organisation and planning skills are vital.

Using your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be able to liaise with key stakeholders with ease and influence, while applying your keen eye for detail to ensure that every avenue is explored regarding grant funding and sponsorship opportunities. Outstanding research, reporting and writing skills will be essential to your success in this position, and enable you to write and present data in a clear and concise manner.

Experience with the Microsoft Office suite at an intermediate level is a must, as is the ability to perform data entry tasks.
