 About the Organisation

Since 1983, Leichhardt Marrickville Community Transport Group (LMCTG) has provided transport services to the inner western Sydney suburbs of Leichhardt and Marrickville. A not-for-profit organisation, LMCTG provides much needed support to those who cannot use, access or afford public or private transport. Through LMCTG, members of the community can organise transport to hospitals, appointments and other essential outings. Additionally, LMCTG organises social outings such as trips to shopping outlets, markets, parks and other activities that encourage community spirit and integration.

Most importantly, LMCTG values equal opportunity and a fair go for everyone.

About the Opportunity

Leichhardt Marrickville Community Transport Group is looking for an organised and dedicated Transport Scheduler to join their team. This position is offered on either a full-time or part-time 12 month contract (with possibility for extension), with hours negotiable between 4-5 days per week (30.4 - 38 hours).

In this varied and rewarding position, you'll be responsible for overseeing the scheduling and coordination of transport bookings, as well as providing day-to-day supervision to Community Transport Drivers. This supervision will include the management of Driver schedules and collection of client fees.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Managing all aspects of transport bookings, including preparing run sheets and managing client enquiries, referrals and bookings;
  • Monitoring activities to identify potential client service needs;
  • Identifying opportunities for process/service improvement and communicating these to management;
  • Ensuring required documentation and data collection is completed accurately and on time; and
  • Assisting with other transport operation and organisation activities as appropriate.

This is an ideal opportunity for an organised and personable individual who has an understanding of the requirements of frail, aged Community Transport customers. Ideally you'll have experience in community transport; however this is not essential to be considered. All applicants should, however, have a genuine respect for the elderly and the compassion and patience to listen and understand their needs.

Due to the nature of this role, the ability to supervise others is essential, and applicants should have a demonstrated ability to work well both independently as part of a team. You'll consider yourself a dependable individual and be able to manage your time effectively to coordinate the work of others as well as your own.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as is an outstanding telephone manner. Computer literacy is a requirement of this role, as you'll be required to use the Microsoft Office Suite and specialised transport scheduling programs.

If you are an organised, capable individual with excellent client service skills and a passion for being part of a community, this is the role for you!

About the Benefits

As an organisation focused on community, LMCTG ensures a work-life balance for its employees. This 4-5 day a week role has flexible working hours, so you can negotiate which days you would like to work.

In return for your hard work, you'll enjoy an attractive remuneration package as well as access to salary packaging, increasing your take-home pay!

This is a unique opportunity to bring your customer service and organisation skills to a rewarding role helping some of our most important community members — Apply Now!
