About the Opportunity

Hope Community Services has an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Goldfields Community Alcohol & Drug Services Manager (GCADS Manager) to join their dedicated and supportive team in Kalgoorlie.

Reporting to the Manager (Goldfields Services) and managing a team of nine, this senior clinical role will be responsible for the provision of team leadership and coordination, as well as direct service provision in the areas of counselling, education and support to individuals affected by alcohol and/or other drugs.

Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing and coordinating services that fall into the AOD area of Goldfields Services;
  • Providing education, support, advocacy, case management, screening/assessment and referrals to individuals, the community and other agencies;
  • Coordinating care plans and associated meetings;
  • Promoting clinical staff development, training and mentoring;
  • Compiling progress reports and providing these to referring agencies, practitioners and funding bodies where appropriate;
  • Identifying opportunities to better integrate services in the area; and
  • Compiling well-presented and timely reports, documentation and data as needed. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a patient leader with a passion for working with those affected by alcohol and other drugs.

To be successful, you'll require either a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a similar allied health discipline or extensive experience in a similar role. You'll have demonstrated experience in the provision and coordination of relevant clinical services relating to alcohol and other drugs, such as counselling and group / family work, and have experience in leading/coordinating a team. Importantly, you'll have knowledge and understanding of the complexities of alcohol and other drug and co-occurring health issues, including responding to crises and high risk situations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are key to this, and will aid the successful candidate in developing strong partnerships and networks with services, agencies and other stakeholders. Importantly, you'll have a calm disposition along with excellent problem-solving abilities and organisation skills, ensuring you effectively manage your workload and make good decisions in what can be a high pressure environment.
