About the Organisation

The Victoria Daly Regional Council became an entity on the 1st July 2008 through the amalgamation of 8 Northern Territory community councils covering an area of 168,000sqkm, an area approximately twice the size of Tasmania. Council's aim is to strengthen its communities with local people delivering services to their own communities with the skills and knowledge of their own culture, community and people.

Victoria Daly Regional Council is five years old as an organisation, so Council are currently recruiting people who share their vision to help develop the new organisation.

About the RJCP Program

The Remote Jobs and Communities Program (RJCP) is the Australian Government’s approach to providing employment services, participation activities and associated community engagement in remote Australia. RJCP commenced on 1 July 2013.  The program aims to achieve personal, social and economic development through active participation, jobs and strong communities in remote Australia.

RJCP is based on community ownership and involvement; it encourages and promotes collaborative, community-driven approaches to conducting employment and participation activities.

About the Opportunity

Victoria Daly Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for a Remote Jobs and Communities Program (RJCP) Activities Coordinator to join their team in Kalkaringi, NT.

Reporting to the RJCP Regional Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Remote Jobs and Communities Program delivered by Victoria Daly Regional Council in the region. This will include providing one-on-one mentoring, training and reverse marketing, as well as participating in program engagement strategies. 

More specifically, the main duties of your role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Providing a wide range of supporting, mentoring and supervisory tasks related to employment and participation activities;
  • Developing jobseeker Personal Participation Plans and reviewing / updating these as necessary;
  • Working with employers and education providers to provide assistance and support, with the aim of increasing referrals / retention and resolving issues;
  • Providing accurate, appropriate and timely recording of all relevant aspects of the RJCP program; and
  • Other duties as required by the RJCP Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has experience networking with employers / education providers and a desire to help people join the workforce and contribute to their local community. To be successful, you'll require an understanding of the barriers faced by jobseekers in regional/remote locations, along with the ability to design strategies to overcome these obstacles. Importantly, you'll be culturally sensitive and comfortable working with Indigenous people and those with high or complex needs. Candidates with previous experience working in remote communities or Indigenous organisations will be highly regarded.

Due to the nature of the role, applicants should display an understanding of contemporary industrial relations matters, as well as a commitment to their application. You'll work well in collaborative, team-oriented situations, and have the ability to network with service providers to increase the success of services offered in the RJCP.

Victoria Daly Regional Council is seeking an individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to effectively liaise with stakeholders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds as well as educate others.

A current driver's licence is essential, as is the ability to process information on computers and online platforms.

The RJCP Activities Coordinator will be rewarded with a competitive salary circa $63,838.90 - $66,543.49 + 9.25% superannuation.
