About the Opportunity
Harbour City Ferries are seeking Expressions of Interest from Qualified Staff interested in becoming Acting Masters. These positions are for periods of Acting up only and will not automatically lead to a future Master position. All vacant permanent appointments are merit based and follow a formal appointment process.
As an Acting Master, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient navigation and operation of vessels, transportation of passengers and crew in accordance with the requirements of Fleet Instructions, Vessel Operating Manuals, Government Legislation and NSW Maritime.
Your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
- Keeping up-to-date with current marine safety regulations, technological changes and marine legislation;
- Maintaining a high standard of safe work practice in vessel operation for passengers and crew;
- Educating crew members about the Harbour City Ferries Quality System, Safety Management System and Fleet Emergency Response Plan; and
- Maintaining constant control of the vessel in a commercial port environment.
To be successful in this role, you will currently be employed with Harbour City Ferries and will have a valid Master Class IV. You will also have a current Local Knowledge Certificate for the Port of Sydney. You will be prompted to upload copies (where applicable) during this application process.
