Nganampa Health Council is a non-government Aboriginal owned and controlled organisation delivering health services to indigenous people living on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands (approx 100,000 kilometres sq) in the far north west of South Australia. Across this area, Nganampa Health operates eight clinics, a 16 bed aged care respite facility and assorted health related programs including, sexual health, environmental health, health worker training, dental, women's health, male health, children's health and mental health. Nganampa Health Council is large and well established. Annual turnover exceeds $20m and it has been operating for nearly 30 years.
The health service has a sustained national reputation for best practice clinical services, leading edge collaborative program research and development and for the collection of outcome data as a basis for ongoing evaluation. Nganampa Health Council has an exciting opportunity for a Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer to join their team in Alice Springs, NT.
Working closely with the Senior Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer, this role will find you responsible for liaising with other stakeholders in the service delivery network, facilitating referrals and ensuring the patients' experience is well coordinated, effective and efficient.
More specifically, your key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
The successful applicant will be liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders, and therefore will require a confident attitude, as well as a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Maintenance of booking systems, data collection and reporting are part of the role, therefore computer literacy skills are essential. Candidates with Pitjantjatjara language skills will be highly regarded.
Most importantly, Nganampa Health Council is looking for an individual who works well in an Aboriginal community controlled primary health care setting and who has a proven, reliable and relevant work history. This role will require the successful candidate to be flexible regarding working hours, therefore an adaptable approach and 'can-do' attitude is essential. The ability to work well in a team will also be critical to your success.
Successful candidates will require a current manual driver's licence and must be willing to undertake a National Police Check prior to commencing.
