About the Opportunity
Major Training has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and independent Business Manager to join the hard-working team in their Yatala, QLD office. This role will be responsible for driving the profit and performance of the organisation as well as leading the team and ensuring effective operations.
The incumbent will have the responsibility of establishing new processes in order to build the team into a highly functioning unit. Once the department is performing strongly, you will have the opportunity to move up into a more senior role alongside the General Manager.
Your day-to-day duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Providing leadership and direction to the team to ensure goals are met efficiently and effectively;
- Ensuring the Industry Training team capitalises on growth opportunities;
- Developing new products and strategies;
- Building strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders;
- Researching additional opportunities for government funding and developing areas for future growth; and
- Overseeing the preparation of tenders and proposals for new business.

To be successful in this role, you must have proven experience in business management, preferably in the training or education sector. You'll consider yourself to be an exceptional leader who is willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done. Major Training is seeking applications from candidates with previous experience in the training sector (e.g. traineeship and apprenticeship programs and/or high risk training) to ensure the successful development of new business opportunities. Knowledge of AVETMISS or similar RTO software will be necessary, as will experience in government reporting and preparing tenders. An open and approachable communicator, you'll build relationships with staff and clients that are mutually beneficial.
You will have a flexible approach and lead by example, particularly in regards to the hours you put into your work.
Intermediate computer skills and experience with online learning platforms and CRMs to drive process improvement will be required. While formal qualifications are not essential, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be highly regarded. Tertiary qualifications in business and/or management would also be an advantage.
