This is a fantastic opportunity to provide day-to-day leadership to the existing Gumurr Marthakal Rangers. You will provide on the job training and mentoring of the team, and apply to funding bodies with the long term objective of bringing the Rangers to a place of financial independence.

The main responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Developing daily work plans for the team;
  • Arranging qualified specialist trainers to progress the Rangers to required qualifications;
  • Maintaining regular 'fee for service' work, and applying for further 'fee for service' contracts;

The ideal candidate will have Natural and Cultural Resource Management experience with an Indigenous community Ranger group or other NRCM agencies or organisations.  In addition, you'll need experience in project management and community program coordination as well as the grant application and funding process.

Importantly, you'll have a knowledge of Indigenous society and culture, particularly indigenous people of the East Arnhem Region, and the ability to communicate effectively in a cross-cultural, multidisciplinary team. Indigenous applicants are urged to apply. You'll be spending a large portion of your time in remote bush locations so it is essential that you're resourceful under trying conditions.
