About the Opportunities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Room Leaders to join the Marninwarntikura Fitzroy Women's Resource Centre team in Fitzroy Crossing, WA.

In these roles you will be responsible for providing educational leadership, staff mentoring, quality improvement and ensuring the legal compliance of the Early Childhood Learning Unit.

Reporting to the Unit Coordinator, some of your day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Planning a developmentally appropriate educational program which fosters the social, emotional, cognitive, physical and aesthetic growth of each child in collaboration with other educators;
  • Creating flexible environments that support learning through play and inquiry, enabling children to engage, reflect, experiment and discover;
  • Working sensitively with children experiencing psycho-social challenges;
  • Participating in the creation, development and evaluation of curriculum;
  • Ensuring regulatory requirements are maintained and working towards continuous improvement; and
  • Ensuring a respectful incorporation of local language, symbols and artwork.

To be successful in these roles, you will hold relevant tertiary qualifications (diploma or above) in Early Childhood, approved by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority. You’ll couple this with demonstrated experience in a similar position, preferably in long day care service.

Marninwarntikura is seeking applications from candidates who demonstrate a commitment to early intervention and the learning styles of children aged 0-4 years. The children attending the centre are living with a broad spectrum of issues, particularly developmental, making this a challenging yet deeply rewarding role.

You will be required to quickly adapt to changing situations and to demonstrate a resilient and calm demeanour. An expert approach to leading children will be your best asset as you work to build a positive and nurturing environment for learning.

You’ll confidently use your problem solving and organisational skills in your duties and will use your relationship management experience to effectively liaise with and participate in the community. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation of Indigenous knowledge and a willingness to take guidance from the cultural leaders in the community.

Importantly, you'll be experienced in child-directed learning and special education and will be confident in working with children to build their pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills in a fun and engaging manner.

Additionally, you'll require a current driver's licence and possess (or have the ability to obtain) a Working with Children Check WA.

This is a rare opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young children and their families as they start their educational journey.
