About the Opportunity

Currently, inoLECT is hiring a full-time Relay Field Engineer to join their team in Baton Rouge, LA.

Your key responsibility will be to perform testing and commissioning of large, high voltage substation expansion projects as well as testing and routine maintenance of Transmission and Distribution substation power equipment, relaying (elector-mechanical, solid state and micro processor), controls and voltage regulating equipment.

Some of your other key duties will include (but not be limited):

  • Testing current transformers, potential transformers, battery systems and power line carriers for 13kv and above power systems;
  • Developing procedures and/or test plans in support of large electric utility for 13kv and above power systems;
  • Planning, scheduling and completing test activities efficiently, on time and without service interruptions; and
  • Maintaining current knowledge for maintenance of 3 phase power systems, power system protection & control schemes, test equipment and test equipment software.

To be considered, you'll have a minimum of an Associate of Electrical Technology (AET) but a Bachelor of Electrical Technology or Electrical Engineering or a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering would be preferred.  Importantly, you'll have the ability to perform regular field work, both indoors and outdoors and it is essential to have or be eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

 You'll also have a minimum of 5 years field experience in the following:

  • Commissioning;
  • Panel and equipment checkout;
  • Relay calibration; and
  • Testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes for large electric utilities for 13kv and above power systems.

While not essential, it is preferred that you have experience in substation commissioning as well as SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing.

Please Note: You must satisfy the following requirements to be considered:

  • Be able to pass pre-employment, random and pre-access drug screens
  • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check (pre-employment and ongoing)
  • Valid driver's licence and a good driving record (reviewed by insurance yearly)
  • Be able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time
  • Able to climb ladders and stand for extended periods
  • Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors
  • Able to lift 70 lbs
