Living Simply was founded in 1980 in Canberra and quickly grew from a small boutique business into a full service company, covering retail through to landscape design & build, complete with an indoor/outdoor plant-rental and short-term event hire service.
The completely, integrated company in Pialligo, ACT is located just 10 minutes from the Canberra city centre and employs 20 staff. The retail home & garden store has a strong design emphasis and caters to the inner-city courtyard gardener, offering a wide variety of indoor & outdoor plants, pottery & water features and garden furniture-all complete with a garden design and consultancy service.
About the Opportunity
To assist management to grow and develop their landscape garden design department, in Pialligo, ACT. This position is within the Home & Garden Retail department, and includes a rotating weekend roster, but remains only a 40 hour week.
In order to support this developing position, you will be initially involved in our retail department, ensuring a good sense of store visual presentation, product selection, product purchasing and the delivery of outstanding customer service to assist in meeting sales targets, delivering store profitability and assisting with the management of a two member team, in the absence of the Retail Manager.
This position is primarily intended to develop into fulll-time, landscape design & garden consultancy, so it is desirable that the successful candidate has the capacity to assist, with the continual evolvement of our retail store, showcasing garden ideas and solutions. In addition to our garden design & customer consultancy services, it is also desirable that the successful candidate has the necessary horticultural skill & experience.
In this varied role, you'll be a strong verbal communicator who is able to give clear direction and an enthusiastic "people person" who can listen to the needs of and build strong relationships with clients, staff and management alike.
