About the Organisation

Pollinate Energy is a group of young Australians who thrive on creating sustainable solutions to social problems. At the moment, the organisation is focused on energy access, but have plans to expand into many other complimentary well-being enhancements for poor people living in urban India.

About the Young Professionals Program

Pollinate Energy developed the Young Professionals Program to provide a social and international focus for professionals to take a deep dive into one of the most challenging environments in the world: a start-up Indian business that works with the poorest of the poor.

The aim of the program is to use the skills of fantastic professionals with diverse views, ideas and skillsets to help solve key business challenges and improve the company business model and operations. This is an opportunity for professionals to take a hiatus and think about their career direction and personal development, by throwing them into a new start-up landscape where they work with urban slum customers and use their skills to make Pollinate Energy's business better. The program also provides aspiring social entrepreneurs and change-makers with an insight into the world of social enterprise, helps grow their professional network and equips them with the tools they need to make their own ideas a reality.

"Pollinate Energy's young professional graduates will develop unique insights into opportunities and challenges in one of the world's faster growing economic regions." - Michael Skelton, Global Business Intelligence Manager, Buildings + Places, AECOM

What Will You Be Doing?

Pollinate Energy now has multiple opportunities for driven individuals to join their Young Professionals Program, running from September 7th-18th, 2015, based in India.

Pollinate Energy’s Young Professionals Programs are all about implementing innovation. Program participants will support Pollinate Energy so it can overcome its biggest business challenges. Pollinate Energy set these challenges close to the start date of your program, so you can be sure that you are working on issues that are real, meaningful, and will have a huge impact on the organisation.

The types of projects you will embark upon will include:

  • Improving and redesigning processes to scale – Pollinate Energy is on a steep growth curve, things will need to be done differently to manage this;
  • Growing our Pollinators’ micro-businesses through new innovations – including product range expansion, sales strategy improvement and additional training; and
  • Evaluating impact and recommending next steps – community consultation to understand short and long-term impacts of our work.

More specifically, some of your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Working on a major project with 3-6 Indian and international young professionals;
  • Undertaking career and professional development workshops, focusing on career planning, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship; and
  • Working side by side with a Pollinator and Young Indian Professional counterpart to support the Pollinator.
