Harbour City Ferries operates approximately 175,000 services, transporting more than 14 million people across Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River each year. About the Opportunity

Harbour City Ferries has a fantastic opportunity for a process-driven Leading Supervisor to join their professional team at the Balmain Ship Yard.

Reporting to the General Manager Assets, you will be coordinating dockings and the various trades to get vessels back out in service. This will include ensuring the overall docking schedule is executed as planned and the overall maintenance schedule is executed as planned.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include:

  • Coordinating the annual docking schedule with operational requirements and changing requirements to achieve planned targets;
  • Monitoring and reporting on the performance of contracts including variations within a quality assurance framework;
  • Monitoring quality control, human resources and communications management in the scope and delivery of projects;
  • Effectively managing staff and demonstrated success of encouraging teams for perform at optimal productivity;
  • Significant change management experience and a capacity to ensure that safety standards are understood and championed;
  • Evaluating project completion performance for use in continuous improvement of project planning, management and delivery;
  • Monitoring and improving comprehensive risk management plans as required; and
  • Ensuring that all contractors employed for delivery of engineering projects are aware of the need to comply with all legislative requirements for safety.

In this role, you'll be required to have knowledge and understanding of the Marine Safety laws and regulations and other relevant legislation, as well as commercial and contract law, public sector statutory requirements and ethical and equitable considerations.

You will also need experience relevant experience in a marine engineering, naval architecture or shipyard maintenance environment, as well as some experience as a foreman or shop floor team leader. Along with strong communication skills, you'll require the ability to manage projects and assets in a commercially focused environment with a strong customer service and safety focus.

You will need demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and best practice experience in operations under a quality assurance system.  In addition, you will possess great interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
