About the Opportunity

A fantastic opportunity exists for a Marketing & Communications Manager to join the Asthma Foundation NSW team in the heart of St. Leonards, Sydney. This position is a 12 month contract with potential to extend to a permanent position.

Overseeing a Marketing Coordinator and a Media Coordinator, and reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for building the reputation of Asthma Foundation NSW by driving demand for their information and education services, and increasing stakeholder engagement.

In this role, some of your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Driving the development, execution and evaluation of a Marketing and Communications Plan to achieve key strategic goals and objectives including marketing campaigns, media and PR, social media
  • Brand management, ensuring brand consistency across all elements of the organisation.
  • Identifying and sharing consumer insights and evaluation learnings with staff and stakeholders to inform ongoing refinement and new approaches;
  • Developing materials and monitoring their effects on the consumer audience;
  • Providing general marketing support to all areas of the organisation;
  • Regular communication with stakeholders via newsletters, email broadcasts and social media;
  • Project management of key consumer and marketing publications; and
  • Assisting with maintaining a dynamic website.

To be considered, you'll need relevant tertiary qualifications, and a minimum of three years demonstrated experience in marketing and/or communications. It is essential you have past experience working in a not-for-profit organisation. You will ideally have experience with engaging volunteers, and can demonstrate making limited resources go a long way.

You are a strategic and analytical thinker, as you need to draw on available evidence to inform new approaches and drive continuous improvement. Equally important is the need for you to be innovative and creative, developing plans and coming up with new ideas to evolve the work of the Foundation in an ever changing environment.

You will have a thorough understanding of media, and the ability to coordinate multi-faceted communications. Experience with graphic design will be a plus, including familiarity with using Adobe CS5 for image creation and manipulation, website artwork, and design of marketing collateral. Strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly with Word and Excel) and data management skills are also required.

Asthma Foundation NSW is looking for a self directed and motivated individual with excellent project management skills, ensuring you are organised and capable of prioritising your workload and juggling multiple tasks. As someone who is energetic and motivated to achieve set goals, you will show perseverance until you see results. 

As Asthma Foundation NSW is a team environment, your strong interpersonal skills and value for the opinions and perspectives of others will hold you in good stead. Part of this role will require you to recruit, orient and manage volunteers, so experience in people management will be highly regarded.
