 About the Organisation

Since 1983, Leichhardt Marrickville Community Transport Group (LMCTG) has provided transport services to the inner western Sydney suburbs of Leichhardt and Marrickville. A not-for-profit organisation, LMCTG provides much needed support to those who cannot use, access or afford public or private transport. Through LMCTG, members of the community can organise transport to hospitals, appointments and other essential outings. Additionally, LMCTG organises social outings such as trips to shopping outlets, markets, parks and other activities that encourage community spirit and integration.

About the Opportunity

Leichhardt Marrickville Community Transport Group is looking for two Casual Drivers to work varying hours and varying days (Monday to Saturday).

As a driver, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Being attentive and empathetic to clients needs, including providing physical support when needed;
  • Driving passenger transport vehicles in a safe manner;
  • Providing training and orientation to new drivers;
  • Completing paperwork, including daily reports;
  • Actively communicating with staff and passengers;
  • Reporting informal passenger feedback to the service coordinator; and
  • Checking fleet for damage and cleanliness before and after trips.

As a casual driver, it is essential you have a current NSW driver's license, ideally LR or higher. Safe driving skills are critical, as well as having good knowledge of Sydney's inner West roads. 

You will have excellent communication skills, as you will be interacting with clients from all backgrounds on a daily basis. You will also have experience working with elderly people and people with disabilities.

Basic computer and report writing skills are needed in order to complete some administration tasks.

You must have, or be willing to attain, a current First Aid Certificate, working with children check and NSW Drivers Authority.

Please note: A criminal history check, medical health check and RTA driving record check are requirements for employment.
