About the Opportunities

The Fitness & Health Portfolio has expanded operations, from three to four shows across Australia. Currently there are shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.  As a result, the company now has an exciting opportunity for a Sales Executive to join the Events team in Melbourne. This is a full time, permanent role, Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm.  Some weekend work will be required on-site at events, where you will experience the fruits of your efforts!

Your primary responsibility will be to achieve agreed sales targets, build your client database and contribute to the team effort to successfully deliver theses shows. This will ensure you maximise profitability and participant satisfaction for the events. 

More specifically, some of your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Achieving set call rates and financial targets for space and sponsorship sales;
  • Developing personal sales skills including sales and closing pitch, overcoming objections and preparation of sales prospectuses;
  • Preparing and delivering weekly and monthly sales progress reports;
  • Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date database, including record of sales, telephone conversations and contact details;
  • Attending industry related networking events and developing an in depth understanding of the industry, trends and market forces;
  • Developing positive relationships with exhibitors, sponsors, industry associations and key governing bodies;
  • Participating in the set up and support of shows as directed; and 
  • Promoting internal company advocacy through professional and courteous behaviour.

Diversified Communications is looking for candidates with a passion for the health and fitness, exhibition and event industries. Proven experience in wellness and/or fitness will ensure you have a thorough understanding of the industry, the ability to use appropriate industry language and speak with confidence to customers. Your knowledge and enthusiasm will allow you to excite and inspire exhibitors, sponsors and other key stakeholders, resulting in your success. 

Importantly, a background in sales is required for this role and experience in cold calling would be highly regarded. The ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships and identify selling opportunities will be key to achieving targets. Possessing some CRM and Microsoft Office experience would be beneficial, as you will be working with software in order to manage your client database. 

At times these events may be frantic, creating pressure to meet deadlines. A strategic thinker, you will have exceptional organisational skills, the ability to prioritise your workload and perform well under pressure in order to overcome the challenges of this role. It is also necessary to be flexible in your approach to work, as you will be working both in an office environment and on the road.
