About the Opportunity

The Balranald Shire Council has a rewarding opportunity for a passionate, dedicated Hostel Manager (Aged Care) to join their team in Balranald, NSW.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate and Community Development, in this role you will responsible for managing and overseeing the delivery of care services to residents of the Bidgee Haven Retirement Hostel. Additionally, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of future facility expansions.

Your key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Supervising and monitoring staff and systems to ensure that standards of care are maintained and the care needs of residents are met;
  • Ensuring staffing is maintained with the appropriate skills mix to meet operational needs;
  • Ensuring all ACFI assessments are carried out by relevant staff;
  • Delivering clinical and complex care and monitoring clinical care outcomes;
  • Planning and implementation of a comprehensive program of activities and community functions for residents; and
  • Developing and monitoring financial budgets, ensuring budget guidelines are met.

To be considered for this role, you will hold tertiary qualifications in nursing, and be currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse. You will be able to demonstrate extensive experience in, and knowledge of the Aged Care industry, including a sound understanding of the Aged Care Act and the ACFI. Additionally, you will be able to demonstrate your experience in working with people with dementia.

As an excellent communicator, with well developed interpersonal skills, you will be able to effectively lead and manage a small, multidisciplinary team. Your strong communication skills will also allow you to easily build rapport with residents, and interpret and convey complex ideas to a diverse range of people. You'll be able to demonstrate your experience in developing new policies and procedures, as well as developing and managing financial budgets.

Importantly, you will be committed to providing the best possible care to the residents, and will be flexible and adaptive in your approach to your work and your ability to react to changing care needs of residents. Ideally you will have qualifications in dementia care and a current driver's or bus licence, but these are not essential for this role.
