The Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) is the peak professional mental health nursing organisation and the recognised credentialing body for mental health nurses in Australia.

It seeks to represent the profession at all levels of government and across all health service sectors. In addition, the ACMHN sets standards for practice, supports mental health nursing research and provides a forum for collegial support, networking and ongoing professional development for its members. Importantly, the ACMHN also works to promote public confidence in and professional recognition of mental health nursing.

About the Opportunity

ACMHN has an exciting opportunity for a part time Administration/Membership Officer to join their passionate and dedicated team in Canberra, ACT.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will be responsible for delivering a quality service to members and maintaining membership records and databases. Additionally, this position is also responsible for working closely with the Accounts and Office Clerk to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of membership management processes. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to: 

  • Providing a high standard of membership service by attending to all communications in a professional, responsive, friendly and helpful manner;
  • Ensuring members receive accurate, consistent, responsive and timely information and assistance;
  • Ensuring all applications, membership details, transactions and instructions from members are processed and maintained;
  • Processing membership, credential and event registration payments;
  • Resolving member enquiries in an appropriate and timely manner; and
  • Contributing to the development of the membership management processes.

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience in an administration role involving a high level of customer service and professionalism and within a corporate environment. You'll be exceptionally organised, and have excellent multitasking skills, enabling you to effectively prioritise competing demands in a busy office environment. While not essential, candidates with a Certificate III in Business or similar and/or previous experience in the mental health sector will be considered favourably.

You'll be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of individuals within, and external to, the organisation. Importantly, you'll excel in a collaborative, team-based environment and be able to work effectively without direct supervision. 

Due to the nature of the role, computer literacy is essential. Specifically, you'll need to be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs and ideally databases (eg. File-Maker Pro).

In exchange for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary circa $45,000 - $50,000 p.a (pro-rata)!
