About the Opportunity
Due to their continued growth and expansion, Byrne Design has fantastic opportunities for full-time Civil Design Draftsmen (junior and senior) to join their team based in Darwin, NT.
Reporting to the Director, these positions will be responsible for undertaking designs and documentations for a variety of public and private sector clients. The Senior positions will also be responsible for providing Junior Designers with input and direction.
Your days will consist of preparing detailed designs and documentations for a variety of civil works including, of storm water systems, sub divisions and road works. Candidates applying for the Senior position will also have lead design teams and will act as a mentor to junior employees. Due to the nature of these role, applicant will need to a have a strong civil engineering background and understanding. Applicants from a design or architectural background will only be considered if they can demonstrate a strong understanding of civil engineering design requirements.
Some of your key duties will include:
- General drafting presentation work (colour drawings | photo overlays);
- Minor geometric design and grading of roadworks | intersections | earthworks;
- Provision of high level drafting service with emphasis on accuracy and efficiencies;
- Documentation of Subdivisions, road and car park design tasks;
- Providing civil design and drafting services to support the design team
- Preparation of quantities and cost estimates;
- Problem solving technical and design issues;
- Undertake drafting tasks and associated tasks; and
- Range of administration and support activities
To be successful in these roles you will have a minimum of 2 years expereince in a similar role. Demonstrated experience in the design of roads, intersections and car parks and formal qualifications in civil engineering will be highly regarded. This will be coupled with strong proficiency in software programs such as AutoCAD, 12D modelling and Autoturn.

Importantly, your efficient approach and excellent work ethic combined with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team will ensure you complete projects in a timely and accurate manner.
