About the Organisation

drummond street services (DS) is a not-for-profit, non-denominational agency that provides family services, mental health and wellbeing support, relationship counselling, parent support and education for families, children and young people that reflect the diversity of the communities in our different locations.   drummond street has over 127 plus years in the development and delivery of innovative services that strengthens families and communities with a strong focus on evidence-based/informed practice and across the prevention and early intervention spectrum of universal and targeted support.

Programs include:

  • Parenting programs and community education that promote healthy strong families;
  • Prevention programs throughout the family life cycle to increase families strength;
  • Early intervention programs at key family transitions where families are particularly vulnerable, such as birth of a child and relationship difficulties;
  • Tertiary programs to intervene in areas which impact on family relationships such as separation and divorce,  family violence, mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse; and
  • Maintenance programs which assist families which have negotiated difficulties such as separation and are re-partnering.

DS has been delivering a range of Family Mental Health & Wellbeing Support Services over several years, along with Child Mental Health and community-based prevention and early intervention services.

As part of recent expansion we are establishing new services including in Brimbank – and as part of supporting this growth we are now recruiting for a General Manager to oversee our Western Region services in Geelong, Werribee and Brimbank.

This is a Senior Leadership position with operational oversight and leadership of our family-wellbeing services and the leadership and management of multi-disciplinary, multi-site teams. A specific focus will be the establishment of a new service, along with leading and supporting our ongoing programs across the Western region.  As this area is one of significant growth and with a diverse range of communities and needs you will also drive and build relationships with local service networks, stakeholder and relationship management, service promotion, operational planning and reporting and staff development.

The successful candidate would also be part of the organisational Senior Management team and have oversight of the following programs;

  • Family Mental Health Support Services
  • Family & Relationships Services
  • Group Programs Support & Education
  • Parent engagement & Support
  • Mental Health programs – i.e. Better Access and ATAPS.

This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for the right candidate.  It is expected that the position would be based in our Wyndham (Werribee office) – with travel to other sites as required. 

The responsibilities of this pivotal role will include:

  • Strategic and operational leadership
  • Actively contributing to our mission, objectives, values and culture
  • Program Management & Service establishment –driving the implementation of new programs and services that promote family and child wellbeing across a spectrum of universal and targeted early intervention, treatment and recovery orientated services.
  • Lead and support practice/team leaders and cross-disciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes for families and children.
  • Strong focus on quality practice and performance
  • Experience in high quality external and internal reporting
  • Experience in working within risk management, quality standards and continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Contribute to broader sector, policy and evidence base through the development of content and/or contributions to policies and research or advocacy.
