Our Company

The Alex Fraser Group is engaged in construction materials recycling and asphalt production and paving. We operate five facilities in Melbourne, two in Brisbane and one in Port Kembla. We employ around 260 people and the role is based in head office at Derrimut.

About the Opportunity

This new, senior role will take maintenance to a new level in a high-performing, continuous improvement environment.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will work with our production managers to ensure Alex Fraser realises the best value from maintaining its strategic production plants (5 rock/concrete crushing, 2 asphalt and 1 refractory brick).

We will look to you to energetically and proactively develop and implement a group-wide, leading-edge maintenance management approach. You will apply the principles of a risk-based approach to maintenance and you will also be able to tailor a system that meets the specific needs of the business. You will leverage existing knowledge within the business and will lead a technical and people-based change program that drives successful implementation.  

You will also manage key strategic relationships with 3rd party maintenance contractors and parts suppliers.

You must have:

  • Whole-of-life, risk-based asset strategy experience;
  • Developed customised work management systems;
  • Experience with reliability and CI methodologies;
  • Implemented and run organisation-wide (multi-site) maintenance management systems including change management aspects; and
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience with fixed crushing plants.

You will:

  • Have tertiary Qualifications in Engineering (ideally mechanical);
  • Be an excellent communicator and good listener;
  • Have superior information technology skills – Microsoft Office, SCADA;
  • Have a mature, logical, fact-based, influencing style; and
  • Strong numerical reasoning abilities; and
  • Be comfortable in an autonomous role working directly with production personnel.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with asphalt manufacturing plants, pavers and mobile earthmoving equipment is a bonus.
