About the Opportunity

Victoria Daly Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for a full time Night Patrol Team Leader to join their team based at Bulla Community (Housed at Timber Creek), NT. 

Reporting to the Council Service Manager, you will be responsible for patrolling the community operations of the Council in the community and surrounding wards.

Please note that this is NOT a security position.

More specifically, some of your duties will include:

  • Ensuring staffing levels are adequate to efficiently and effectively maintain the night patrol program;
  • Ensuring appropriate documentation such as Incident Reports, Patrol Sheets, Service Agreement Consent Forms and  time sheets are maintained and submitted;
  • Diffusing difficult situations and patrolling the community to ensure the safety and well being of all residents is maintained;
  • Liaising with and advising the local police force and Night Patrol Coordinator on issues regarding criminal activity;
  • Providing advice, information and assistance to community members that will reduce anti-social behaviour and threats of self-harm by linking them with services such as safe houses or medical assistance; and
  • Maintaining a safe staff working environment and ensuring that proper Occupational Health and Safety regulations set by Council are adhered to.

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar position and relevant industry knowledge in the field of night patrol services. As this is a leadership position, you will also require the ability to manage and direct staff efficiently, in addition to being able to work independently with limited supervision and direction.

You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a high level of fitness as this can be a physically demanding role. You will also possess personal integrity, a friendly disposition, and a positive attitude towards health and well-being.

In this role, a working knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety regulations is essential, as is a current C Class driver's licence. A criminal history clearance and ochre card must be submitted with your application . Although not essential, qualifications in welfare, social services or community services will be highly regarded.
