Location: Marsfield, Sydney

  • Rewarding opportunity to provide support to individuals with intellectual disabilities!
  • Competitive Salary with Salary Packaging available!
  • Ongoing training and development!
  • Small, supportive and close-knit organisation and team!

About Our Organisation

Seton Villa, a work of the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, has been providing supported accommodation for women with intellectual disability in Marsfield since 1966. This small organisation provides individually tailored support to just 30 women aged between 30 and 70 years old.

Seton Villa is a largely government funded organisation that encourages the people they support to be as independent as possible in their day-to-day lives. This is accomplished through their qualified staff providing a range of activities in the local community and further afield as an approved provider of Life Choices and Active Ageing programs. Strong links with employment services and other specialist activity providers allows tailored support that best suits the needs of the people they support.

About the Opportunity

Seton Villa has a fantastic opportunity for a creative and resourceful person to manage our successful day activity centre as our Disability Day Program Manager (Diversional Therapy).

Reporting to the CEO, this role is responsible for the strategic and operational management of Seton Villa's Day Service Program.

Your key duties will include (but may not be limited to):

  • Planning and implementing individual diversional therapy programs for the participants that promote physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual well-being
  • Planning and supervising a small team to ensure that programs are implemented effectively by providing operational or procedural direction and/or advice as well as monitoring and coaching individual and team outcomes/performances and achievements.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with the community to ensure that participants have access to support and referral services as well as engaging volunteers
  • Attracting new clients to our centre

This position is ideal for a creative, innovative person with strong leadership skills who has experience working with people with an intellectual disability and people who exhibit behaviours of concern. You'll hold tertiary qualification in Leisure and Health (Diversional Therapy) and preferably have previous experience in a management or team leadership role. With excellent knowledge of disability standards, and the ability to relate to participants in a respectful manner that recognises their dignity, your skills and empathy combined will ensure the delivery of excellent care.

As a manager, you'll have a high level of verbal and written communication skills as well as computer proficiency and excellent time management and decision making skills. Prior experience with the planning and implementation of diversional therapy programs, and the drive to help our clients make continual improvements, will ensure your success. Experience in the administration and be capable of running the day to day activities, including monthly reports, work health and safety and maintaining a small database of agencies and organisations who can provide support to our clients is essential for this role, as is a current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one, as well as a valid driver's licence.

As the Day Program Manager, as well as being responsible for planning and coordinating day-to-day tasks, you'll also be responsible for planning of the annual show, so experience in performing on stage and performing arts is beneficial. Our annual show, full of music and dance, is a great way to involve our clients in an activity that promotes physical exercise and fitness, self-esteem and confidence and uses. Our clients make up the cast while the Seton Villa staff are the crew, so the capability and willingness to organise everything from the choice of music right up to the performance will be needed.

Last years performance was a production of Grease, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved!
