About the Organisation

Diabetes Australia was established in 1984 and is the national body for people affected by all types of diabetes and those at risk. Diabetes Australia works in partnership with diabetes health professionals and researchers, and is committed to reducing the impact of diabetes on the Australian community.

In collaboration with state and territory diabetes organisations and through the administration of the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS), Diabetes Australia provides practical assistance, information and subsidised products to 1.2 million Australians with diabetes.

About the Opportunity

Diabetes Australia is seeking a full-time NDSS Communications & Support Officer to join their Canberra team. This position is being offered on a 6-month contract basis, with a possibility of extension.

Reporting to the National Operations Manager NDSS, the primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the effective operation of the NDSS through support for a range of activities, including internal / external communications,  overseeing website / social media, reporting and project work.

More specifically, your duties will include:

  • Coordinating national NDSS planning and reporting;
  • Preparing internal and external communications and reports;
  • Contributing to the management of the NDSS website and social media platforms;
  • Assisting in the development, maintenance, review and management of NDSS policies and procedures;
  • Aiding in the procurement of supplies and services;
  • Contributing to the maintenance of the Quality Management System, and assisting in its continued development; and
  • Assisting in managing small projects as required from time to time.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and personable individual with very strong writing skills to join a national peak body. You'll be working with data to formulate programs, write policies / procedures and generally contribute to the high standard of communication produced by the organisation; therefore along with excellent business and report writing abilities you'll need to bring a very high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage your work to meet agreed timeframes.

Due to the nature of the role, familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and web-based applications is required.

Candidates with experience in the health sector, not- for - profit or government sector, and/or with relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded; however this is not essential.
