About the Opportunity 

drummond street has a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Family Services Team Leader to join our Northern Region team servicing Epping, Collingwood and Glenroy. 

The Family Services Team Leader is primarily responsible for providing leadership and support to a team of practitioners delivering prevention and early intervention services to families with children dealing with (or at risk of developing) mental health issues. 

Other responsibilities of this pivotal role include: 

  • Actively contribute to the organization's mission, objectives, values and culture through strategic and operational leadership; 
  • Monitor data and client feedback to ensure that service targets and quality is maintained; 
  • Contribute to the development and growth of services via tender and funding applications;
  • Demonstrate a holistic and family-centered approach to achieving mental health outcomes via prevention and early intervention strategies; 
  • Provide centre-based and outreach support services and implement case plans in collaboration with the client and their family; 
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and implementation of evidence-based programs and build therapeutic relationships through engagement activities; and
  • Network with and deliver training to community members, partners and the broader sector.  

To qualify, you have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Family Therapy or Psychology, as well as further training in relation to family work. With a minimum of five years' experience working in the family services or mental health sectors, you must demonstrate knowledge of a range of therapeutic approaches that are appropriate for children and adolescents. In addition, you will have proven experience providing counselling and case work that support children and families with multiple and complex needs, including mental health, violence and substance abuse issues.  

Previous experience supervising, managing and developing multidisciplinary teams is also essential for success in this role, as is the ability to lead operational planning. 

This role is well suited to someone who is a strong communicator and who understands the business of child and family services. Maintaining a strong client-focus, you will lead by example and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and cultural awareness.
