About the Opportunity

Brazeau County has an exciting opportunity for a GIS/GPS Technician (1-year term) to join their team in Drayton Valley, Alberta. 

Working as member of the IT division, you will assist in the support and maintenance of the IT infrastructure. You will serve as a GIS resource for:

  • Spatial data processing,
  • Thematic mapping,
  • Database management, and 
  • Data collection and data input for all departments within Brazeau County.

In order to qualify for the role, you will need the following: 

  • Two (2) year Diploma in Geographic Information Systems technology from a recognized, post-secondary institution (an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered);
  • Two (2) years related experience in the use of GIS, including spatial data processing, thematic mapping, database management and knowledge of Intergraph GeoMedia, ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD Lt., and Microsoft Office and Adobe software;
  • Related experience with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Technology; and
  • Experience and knowledge of municipal government operations and familiarity with the Alberta Township Survey System.

Our next GIS/GPS Technician will be an excellent communicator, with high-level interpersonal and organizational skills.
