About the Organisation

Murdi Paaki Regional Enterprise Corporation (MPREC), established August 2003, is a government funded not-for-profit organisation with a primary objective of providing Indigenous communities with relevant and effective services.

The corporation has five primary objectives (driven by its constitution). These include:

  • Development and implementation of effective employment strategies;
  • Enterprise projects and business development and associated consultancy services;
  • Delivery of accredited training;
  • Development and implementation of community programs and services; and
  • Provision of CDEP and similar services.

The Murdi Paaki Region comprises the whole of Western NSW, from the Victoria to Queensland borders. Many communities are critically disadvantaged by remoteness. There are 16 communities: Gulargambone, Coonamble, Collarenebri, Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Goodooga, Brewarrina, Bourke, Weilmoringle, Enngonia, Cobar, Ivanhoe, Wilcannia, Menindee, Broken Hill and Dareton / Wentworth.

There are six key service delivery (divisional) components of MPREC: Administration (including reception, warehouse and logistics), Youth Division (including youth programs, youth centres and youth advisory council), Employment Training Unit (including Job Services Australia, CDEP, Australian Integrated Training and HR), Business Unit (including economic panel projects, specified projects and media unit), Building Unit (including MP Building Projects), and Financial Division (including acquittals, finance and payroll).

About the Opportunity

 Murdi Paaki Regional Enterprise Corporation has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and resourceful Station Business Manager to join their hard working team in Willcannia!

In this highly varied role, you will primarily be responsible for raising the profile of the station, as well as improving operations of the Radio Station, with a goal of achieving sustainable viability.

More specifically, your duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Supervising all staff and on-air personnel;
  • Ensuring that policies, procedures and Work Instructions are adhered to;
  • Collecting data and statistics to formulate into reports;
  • Developing marketing and promotional strategies aimed at increasing revenue; and
  • Providing mentoring to the Station Supervisor.

The successful candidate will have a ‘can-do’ attitude, possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to engage with team members and the community.

Ideally, you will have 2+ years of experience in a similar role, and have qualifications in Business or Media. You will understand workforce planning and scheduling to ensure the station is always operating at full capacity.

You will also be responsible for hiring new trainees, so experience in recruitment will be highly regarded. This is an amazing opportunity to create a fantastic team and drive the station as a major part of the community! This is a newly created role, and therefore an exciting opportunity to 'make your mark' and build community engagement with the Station.

A current driver's licence is an essential requirement of this position, as is a willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check and a Criminal Records Check before commencing employment.

About the Benefits

You'll be welcomed into the business with a comprehensive handover period to make sure you're settled within the team and the organisation. To help make the move easier for applicants currently outside the Willcannia region, Relocation Assistance is negotiable.

While you may choose to live in the community, MPREC would be willing to consider someone who would prefer to be based in a nearby town such as Broken Hill, and stay in Willcannia Monday to Thursday.

In return for your expertise and dedication, you will receive a package of $80,000 plus Super, as well as salary sacrificing options!

Those who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Straight Islander are encouraged to apply.
