About the Organisation

Murdi Paaki Regional Enterprise Corporation (MPREC), established August 2003, is a government funded not-for-profit organisation with a primary objective of providing Indigenous communities with relevant and effective services.

The corporation has five primary objectives (driven by its constitution). These include:

  • Development and implementation of effective employment strategies;
  • Enterprise projects and business development and associated consultancy services;
  • Delivery of accredited training;
  • Development and implementation of community programs and services; and
  • Provision of CDP and similar services.

Murdi Paaki Regional Enterprise Corporation (MPREC) is the peak provider of services to Indigenous communities in Western NSW. The Corporation’s goal is to continually improve the social fabric and living standards of Western NSW residents.

Communities serviced include: Bourke, Brewarrina, Broken Hill, Cobar, Collarenebri, Coonamble, Enngonia, Goodooga, Gulargambone, Ivanhoe, Lightning Ridge, Menindee, Walgett, Weilmoringle, Wentworth, Wilcannia.

MPREC delivers the Community Development Program (CDP) across two western NSW regions, Far West and Upper Darling. CDP is delivered throughout communities including Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar, Goodooga, Murrin Bridge, Engonnia, Weilmoringle, Ivanhoe, Wilcannia, Menindee, Tibooburra and White Cliffs.

The CDP is a "whole of community" program focussing on employment, training and community development. Participants in the program focus on developing their work readiness skills, foundation skills, vocational skills and addressing non-vocational barriers to employment.

About the Opportunity

MPREC has an exciting opportunity for proactive CDP Regional Manager to join their team servicing the Cobar, Bourke and Brewarrina region in NSW.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for managing the CDP in the Upper Darling region. Through the provision of effective leadership, you will ensure that all contractual, performance and employment targets are met and resources are appropriately managed. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships that help our customers secure sustainable employment.

Key duties of this pivotal leadership role include: 

  • Assist management with the preparation of strategic plans and budgets and lead the development of a Regional Business Plan; 
  • Allocate, manage and monitor caseloads and staff performance to ensure KPIs are met; 
  • Complete reports, analyse performance and implement strategies to drive performance and customer satisfaction;
  • Investigate and resolve complaints and ensure all staff have the resources to provide high quality service; 
  • Prepare for and participate in audits, implement recommendations and ensure regional compliance; and 
  • Implement a risk minimization approach to service delivery and ensure staff adhere to legislation, policies and procedures. 

To be considered for this role, you will have previous experience successfully leading a team and the ability to train, develop and mentor staff. At least three years' experience in a similar role is ideal and a tertiary qualification in Human Services is advantageous, but not essential. What is essential for success in this role is working knowledge of local labour markets and familiarity with Employment Services. Similarly, the successful candidate must be able and willing to actively engage with the community and build positive working relationships with staff and stakeholders. 

This role is well suited to a strategic and analytical thinker who has no issues developing or implementing business plans. With the proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and operate within a budget-led framework, you will have highly developed communication skills and proficient with computers. Previous experience with ESS software and the ability to maintain comprehensive records is an asset, as is knowledge of MPREC programs and services.  

Candidates with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues facing Aboriginal people, and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people, are strongly encouraged to apply. Similarly, candidates with previous NGO experience and/or an awareness of Cultural Heritage and Language Programs will be held in high regard.    

It is important to note that the successful candidate will be required to live in the community and travel regularly within the Murdi Paaki region. As such, a current and unencumbered NSW Driver's Licence in mandatory. 

To ensure you get settled into the role, you will be welcomed into the business with a significant handover period. To help facilitate an easy and smooth move for candidates relocating from outside of the immediate area, relocation assistance may be negotiated.  

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with an attractive salary circa $90,000 plus super and salary packaging. You will also be provided with a work vehicle, mobile phone and laptop/tablet.
