About the Opportunity

Centacare NQ has a highly rewarding opportunity for a Program Manager (Homelessness) to join their team in Mt Isa.

The Program manager provides strategic direction, development and management of daily service provision as well as leadership of the program and the team. The Program manager leads with assistance of 2 Team leaders and manages the Crisis Accommodations Service, Homestay Program and Reconnect Youth Service teams.

More specifically, general responsibilities will include:

  • Seeking out and maintaining knowledge of broader elements related to the program, including relevant social and political context, regional community issues, funding options, client base and service delivery models;
  • Facilitating overall program development, strategic direction and coordination of service delivery, including reporting and performance management of staff;
  • Providing line management to the Team Leader and/or program staff and at times provide direction to other staff;
  • Ensuring the program meets legislative, service agreement and quality assurance requirements;
  • Promoting the program and and other Centacare NQ services within the agency and across the wider community and seeking out opportunities for growth; and
  • Participating in the development, management and control of the allocated program budget.

About You

To excel in this role, a degree in social sciences, business or similar is essential, coupled with proven experience in the social and community services sector. Successful candidates will also be required to possess (or be eligible to obtain) a current Positive Notice for Child Related Employment ("Blue Card" and a yellow card exemption) from the Public Safety Business Agency (PSBA).

To be successful in this role, you'll have knowledge of issues in the social services sector and within the community. You will also have demonstrated knowledge of legislation, social policy and service delivery issues. Applicants with with an awareness of financial accountability issues and government funding arrangements will be highly regarded.

You will also require a demonstrated ability to work as part of team to fulfill program and organisation goals and have strong problem solving and performance management skills.  The role requires an empathetic individual, with highly developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage a wide range of internal stakeholders, as well as forge strong working relationships with external parties.  Importantly, you'll have demonstrated leadership skills as you monitor and support Centacare NQ staff.

Prior to commencement, you'll need to hold a current C Class Driver's Licence.
