About the Organisation

Youth Off The Streets is a non-denominational community organisation working with young, disadvantaged people who may be homeless, drug dependent, or recovering from abuse. Since their establishment in 1991, Youth Off The Streets has grown from a single food van delivering meals to young homeless people in Kings Cross, to becoming a major youth-specific agency offering a full continuum of care through the delivery of a wide range of services.

With services including aboriginal programs, crisis accommodation, alcohol and other drug services, counselling, accredited high schools, and outreach and residential programs, Youth Off The Streets are supporting young people at-risk to move towards and achieve their goals.

About the Opportunity

Youth Off The Street have an opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist (Workplace Health & Safety and Workers Compensation) to join their team based in Mascot, Sydney, on a full-time, 12-month parental leave contract. 

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you’ll be responsible for providing generalist human resources guidance and support to all HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, industrial relations, learning and development, and workforce planning and performance management.

You will be applying your technical and professional skills and expertise on HR policies and programs with strengths in relationship management for partnering purposes, workplace health and safety, workers’ compensation and case management, and Return to Work programs.

Some of your key requirements will include:

  • Developing and delivering HR solutions that support workplace health and safety, workers’ compensation, and Return to Work programs;
  • Providing comprehensive advice to managers regarding HR policies, programs, and business practice;
  • Coaching managers in human resources and employee relations matters to reduce risk and increase capability; and
  • Assisting with the delivery of HR programs and processes.

Youth Off The Streets are seeking a candidate who has demonstrated previous experience within human resources, with a key focus on workplace health and safety and Workers' Compensation, preferrably within a welfare or social work environment. Whilst it isn't a requirement of the role, tertiary qualifications in human resources or similar will be held in high regard.

Experience in influencing change throughout an organisation will be key, as you encourage a movement towards new, innovative approach to human resources within Youth Off The Streets.

Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities in order to meet tight deadlines will be a key requirement of this role. You’ll have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise professionally and sensitively to a wide range of audiences.

A warm, welcoming, and engaging approach coupled with a strong focus on customer service will see you building strong, lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
