Travel Sales Consultant

Job No: 81170
Location: Surry Hills, NSW

Do you have a spirit of adventure?

Aurora Expeditions is in an exciting growth period and as a result, we now have multiple opportunities for Travel Sales Consultants to join our team in Surry Hills, NSW, on a full time basis.

We aren't looking for just any sales people. At Aurora Expeditions, we were the pioneers of some previously unheard of activities such as polar diving, polar kayaking and camping on the ice in Antarctica, and we are looking for people who share the same sense of adventure and excitement about life that can share that passion with our customers and keep them coming back time and time again.

We are not an ordinary travel company and this is not an ordinary sales role. This is an opportunity to become part of a specialist team creating once in a lifetime, unforgettable experiences for people from all backgrounds and walks of life.

About the Opportunity.

Reporting to our CEO, in this exciting and fast-paced role, you will be primarily responsible for selling our small-group voyages to a number of remote destinations, including Antarctica, the European Arctic, Alaska's inside passage and Ecuador.

Some of your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Actively managing the passenger booking process;
  • Sales lead follow-up, including outbound emails and calls;
  • Maintaining our loyalty club database; and
  • Compiling sales reports and providing sales feedback.

To be successful, you will have extensive face to face travel sales experience, and a proven track record in working to sales targets and maintaining a sales pipeline. Any experience with Cruise travel sales would be advantageous, however is not mandatory.

It goes without saying that you will need to be organised, deadline driven and have strong attention to detail and accuracy in your work. An excellent command of spoken and written English, as well as a passion for travel and an appreciation and respect for natural and cultural environments, is also critical to your success.

Finally, what's most important is your ability to engage with, and build real and genuine relationships with your clients, ensuring loyalty and repeat business. With an organisational culture of treating every client like 'our mum's best friend', we know the importance of building a friendly rapport with customers, whilst still maintaining high levels of professionalism at all times, and we expect this from all of our staff.

Join a top-class team.

Our highly acclaimed expedition staff are some of the best in the business. Many are the recognised world leaders in their fields - everything from photographers, to historians, to naturalists, to professional mountaineers! They enthusiastically share their knowledge to ensure that everyone in the business from sales consultants to deck hands are educated on our product offering and the amazing destinations we visit.

We love what we do and believe that everyone involved, from expeditioners to staff, ship’s crews to trekking teams, shares the same goal – the best expedition imaginable!

Not only that but we also have a strong focus on environmental sensitivity and enrichment. We make a conscious decision in every part of our business to limit our footprint on the environment - everything from limiting the number of people we take to our destinations, to helping develop international environmental guidelines for the polar regions we visit, to using reusable coffee cups in the office!

What we can offer you.

With the company having grown in recent years we are always on the lookout for experienced, dynamic and passionate team members, and we understand that we need to put in the work to keep them engaged and excited in the business.

On joining Aurora Expeditions, you will be given an above industry standard, base salary of $60,000 plus super. You will also have the ability to earn bonus and incentive payments based on performance and ability to meet KPIs and sales targets, further increasing your take home pay.

You will enjoy selling a product that people are actually excited to buy! And unlike traditional sales roles, you will have lots of opportunity to step away from your desk and get out of the office, for things like attending trade shows and going on familiarisation trips (how cool is that!!?)

We will teach you everything you need to know about our product offering and internal processes and systems - you bring your sales experience, drive and positive attitude and we'll do the rest! And with no weekends or night shifts required, you will get the work/life balance you may have been missing in previous roles.

About Aurora Expeditions.

Aurora Expeditions is an Australian-owned adventure company specialising in small-group voyages to the Polar Regions and other wild, remote destinations around the world. We pioneered ship-based adventures over 25 years ago and we remain committed to small, low-impact groups keen to not just see, but experience our range of remote destinations.

We specialise in destinations off the beaten track. So far off in fact, that often there is no track! A world leader in expedition cruising, we offer passengers the chance to have an intimate experience of the destination, with the support of expert staff and flexible, innovative itineraries.

From the start, we were destined to be different. Our passion for adventure, exploring wild places and sharing the experience with friends burns just as brightly as it did 25 years ago, as does our preference for small-group, personal expeditions.

So what are you waiting for? If you want to sell travel experiences that stir the soul and open people's eyes to some of the most remote locations in the world, then this is the role for you - Apply Now!
